Trevor, Jacinda, and I had the MOST fun date night (I will gladly be the third wheel) shooting their engagement photos. Maybe couples photoshoots are the new date night???

Engagement Photos in Downtown Morris

Trevor actually found me on his Google search for a couples photographer (shout out to my SEO queen, Mara, for making it happen!). He spent hours on a very thorough search, and ultimately my site stood out to him the most and he just loved me work (that is one of the highest compliments I could ever receive)! He brought me out to Morris, Il for the shoot! They had never had professional photos taken before and now was the time!

I spent the day of our session driving up to Morris (It’s about an hour and a half drive from me, so this was a special one), exploring the town. I was hitting the thrift stores and having a “me” day! It brought me so much joy to be able to explore a new place and fill my own cup. I DID score some major thrift finds in case you were wondering.

Reaaaallllllyyyyyyyy I was location scouting, but who says you can’t location scout and hit the thrift stores at the same time??

I knew I wanted to find some unique spots to shoot at since our second location was going to be on their property!

I found some awesome little nooks, arches, and doorways in downtown Morris. Trevor and Jacinda let me get super creative, which I always love. We ended up with this classy downtown vibe that is still unique and true to them!

Couples Photography

After our downtown adventure, we headed to a piece of land that Trevor and Jacinda bought to potentially build on one day. How precious is that? To have your photoshoot literally on the grounds of your hopes and dreams? It was so special.

Golden hour was a must! We tried out loads of new prompts and poses—I am so glad these two were down for all of my wild ideas! From the picnic blanket to the airplane moment and the hand shots from underneath, we captured these two in so many unique ways.

Above all else, I am just so glad they had FUN! By the end of the shoot they were telling me about how much fun they had and how it made for a great date night for the two of them!

They even joked about doing a session every season because they had THAT much fun (I hope they do. I had that much fun, too). Getting creative with engagement photos is SO much fun for me as a photographer. Usually, the pair is that much more comfortable in front of the camera because they have the other to lean on (physically and emotionally).

So often, engagement photographers are also a couple’s wedding photographer. Since I don’t shoot weddings, engagement photo shoots are only here and there. But let me tell you, my couples sessions always pack a punch!
